How many domains I have and why?

I have owned my brand name domain (ItsSri) in the top 4 gTLDs since 2005 (com/net/org/info). Since last year I have become an active domainer, so to say, with easier access to high speed internet and instant payment channels (I am from India).

In 2008, I have, till now, purchased over 20 domains, all of them .COMs.

Why am I doing it?

Well, I am not rich enough to dabble in "real estate", but "virtual estate" is very low cost at the moment and big times are foreseen. My domain portfolio of 19 .COMs and 12 other TLDs, with a total investment of around $1,000 over a year, is currently valued in the range of $12,000 to $120,000 (different appraisers have different metrics). The recurring cost of this portfolio is going to be the same - $1,000 per year, but the resale value will only increase with every passing day. So, you get the picture.

Good generic names are a scarcity and very valuable. I do quite a bit of research and have managed to ferret out golden nuggets like NameIssue.com, LinkCite.com, AccessMdb.com, RuntimeDownload.com, iPhoneSet.com, AccessPersonal.com, DebaterBlog.com, eResize.com, EntryCredit.com. Some of the names I will develop as good sites and some will be just developed for resale, just like you would do plotting and landscaping on a real estate piece. But, I don't believe in using the "parking sites". I develop my own site and try to build monetization on my own.

I have a huge list of generic domain names that I researched and am going to acquire, solely for the purpose of development and resale (at reasonable prices of course). If anyone wants domain name ideas and help in creating monetized websites please visit NameIssue.com (all work done manually - automation has yet to match the imagination of the human mind)

Best wishes,

ItsSri
